Merlin, 1947 50 Foot Shain Cabin Cruiser
Merlin (formally Otts Yott) was built by Shain Boatyard of Seattle, Washington. She is a Ed Monk Sr. design. The boat was owned most of her life by Irving Ott, a member of the Portland Yacht Club in Oregon. He used her for fishing charters out of Ilwaco, Washington.
We acquired the boat in the year 2000. The first year we worked on engines, hull, plumbing and electrical. The interior was partially gutted in 2001. It took us two years to restore the interior. While Mr. Ott maintained the boat as a fishing charter, our objective was to bring her back to her original beauty.
