Merlin, 1947 50 Foot Shain Cabin Cruiser . . . Restoring the galley and dinette.

| The first year we completed much of the exterior work except for building the flying bridge. The end of 2001 we gutted much of the interior. Some of it had formica glued over the mahogany wood. The interior had been changed over the years and we wanted to install something that reflected her original design but also reflected our needs in a boat. We discovered that our design plans probably weren't much different then the original design. We have learned that Monk was famous for full width galleys and a large dinette table. Our design reflected this. | ||||||||||

| The port side of the galley looking towards the bow. We restored the cabinet with the stainless sink but took out the rest. New cabinet doors and drawers were built out of mahogany. We replaced the diesel stove with a kerosene Taylor stove made in England. | ||||||||||
